RAS based Golda (freshwater prawn) farming technology development

Information: As of high consumer demand both in domestic and international market, freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii, locally called Golda) farming has been still striving in traditional to semi-extensive to extensive pond systems culture in Bangladesh.

Recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) have gained popularity and trust in recent years due to its proven benefits and success in aquatic species farming. However, there are challenges associated with RAS, including higher initial investment costs, energy consumption, and the need for technical expertise. The adoption of RAS technologies is the pragmatic solution to boost golda production in Bangladesh. Maverick Innovation is equipped with a complete facilities of RAS set-up and has been developing RAS-based golda farming technologies including precise control of water quality parameters (i.e. temp, oxygen level, and pH), water efficiency method, biosecurity and disease prevention process, and improved feeding regimes for year-round production. In addition, Maverick Innovation will continuously support to develop and expand RAS facilities by careful planning, investment, and appropriate technology and expertise.
