“a feed’s environmental footprint can be powerfully mitigated by the strategic sourcing of raw materials.” – from a recent paper titled “The origins of aquaculture feed ingredients matter more than composition for aquafeed environmental footprint assessments” published in the journal Nature Food.
Carefully sourcing the raw materials and at the same time, have a proper scrutiny of the formulation to minimize the overuse or unnecessary use of raw materials or various additives, can reduce the formulation cost but at the same time, may be unknowingly, improve the environmental footprint of the feed.
