ABOUT US

Maverick Innovation was established in 2020 while the “zero-waste” RAS based wet-lab came into operation in 2023. The future-plan for Aqualab includes a RAS based raceway nursery system for freshwater prawn and fishes, a disease challenge laboratory, and a pond-based experimental facility by 2024,

The poultry research facility shall include two environmentally controlled EC housing facilities, one for broiler and one for laying hens. It shall also include a metabolic lab and a disease challenge facility. To be completed by 2024.

Projects

RAS based Golda (freshwater prawn) farming technology development

As of high consumer demand both in domestic and international market, freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii, locally called Golda) farming has been still striving in traditional to semi-extensive to extensive pond systems culture in Bangladesh.

Recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) have gained popularity and trust in recent years due to its proven benefits and success in aquatic species farming. However, there are challenges associated with RAS, including higher initial investment costs, energy consumption, and the need for technical expertise. The prawn hatchery industry of Bangladesh need a revolutionary steps with a shift towards more intensive and sustainable practices to meet the growing demand. The adoption of RAS technologies is the pragmatic solution to boost golda production in Bangladesh.

Maverick Innovation is equipped with a complete facilities of RAS set-up and has been developing RAS-based golda farming technologies including precise control of water quality parameters (i.e. temp, oxygen level, and pH), water efficiency method, biosecurity and disease prevention process, and improved feeding regimes for year-round production. In addition, Maverick Innovation will continuously support to develop and expand RAS facilities by careful planning, investment, and appropriate technology and expertise.

Effects of graded level of yeast metabolites on performance, immunity and antioxidative capacity of Nile tilapia

Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a global aquaculture finfish species. A healthy source of protein, micronutrients and essential fatty acids that is now a staple in many part of the world. Bangladesh witnessed a massive growth in fresh water fish production in the last decade where tilapia farming is the major one for the availability of fries, omnivorous food habits, and consumer demand.

Higher growth with high stocking density under intensive and semi-intensive tilapia farming has increased in different culture system in Bangladesh. Studies analyzed that intense farming is naturally susceptible to bacteria, fungal, and parasitic infections, particularly during times of stress. Dietary supplementation has a profound impact on initial growth phases, stress periods and perpetual environmental challenges. Concerning in improved diet with hydrolyzed yeast in early life stages is key for high-quality production.

Development of RAS feed for Giant River Prawn

Successful cultivation of any aquatic species mainly depends on nutritionally balanced diets that promote immunity, optimal growth and optimal yield. Imbalanced feeds result in slow growth, decreased immunity, slow tissue turnover, poor wound healing, and vulnerability to disease.

Maverick Innovation aims to develop of RAS based feed for high-valued Golda (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) focusing on balanced nutrition leads to low feed conversion ratios that maintain optimal water quality and bacterial floc in biofilter, lower production costs, and improved dietary regime  for sustainable production.
